If you have to solve this problem using the distrubtive property, try this.
Distribute the right side:
24%2811%29-24%2810%29=24%28f-10%29
24%2811%29-24%2810%29=24%28f%29+-+24%2810%29
Comparing the left and right side shows that f must be 11, otherwise the two sides won't be equal.
The more traditional approach is just to solve for f:
24%2A11-24%2A10+=+24%28f-10%29
264-240+=+24f-240
24+=+24f-240
24f=24%2B240
24f=264
f=264%2F24
f=11
