And are you saying "if x = 15, then 3(x-4) = 33" or vice versa?

If you are saying "if x = 15, then 3(x-4) = 33" then all you need to do is replace x with 15 to get 3(15-4) = 33, 3(11) = 33, true statement, so the statement is true.
