Question 57621: Can someone help me graph this equation?
I need a straight-line graph. Using x-axis is number of days from 0 to 100, y-axis is total number of hours sleep at the rate of 8 hours sleep per day. (from 11:30 p. m. to 7:30 a.m. if that helps)
t = 8*d - where d are number of days and t is total number of hours sleep.
Can someone help me graph this since I have to send this on the computer not paper.
I have to send this out tomorrow.
Thanks for the help.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Rewrite the equation in the forme of equation for a line:
Y=mX+b where m is the slope or stepeness of the line.
A positive slope of m=8 indicates that the line will slant up and to the right.
Y=8X
Find the Y intercept by setting x=0
When X=0, Y=0
The Y intercept is Y=0
Find X intercept when Y=0
When Y=0, X=0
The X intercept is X=0
We now know that (0,0)
is a point on this line.
Plot the point and draw the line.
This is how to sketch the line.
If you actualy want to plot points, just start plugging values in for X (d on your graph) and calculate the corresponding values for Y (t on your graph)
for example when d=1, t=8 when d=2, t=16 etc etc ie (1,8) (2,16) (3,24) are all points on your graph.
