You can put this solution on YOUR website! "f(x)= 3x-2
D=(-3,-1,0,2,3)
R=( )"
Simple, R is f(D). D={-3,-1,0,2,3}, so R={f(-3),f(-1),f(0),f(2),f(3)}.
Luckily, you don't have to stop there; you can solve all of them:
f(-3)=3(-3)-2=-11
f(-1)=3(-1)-2=-5
f(0) =3(0)-2 =-2
f(2) =3(2)-2 =4
f(3) =3(3)-2 =7
So, R={-11,-5,-2,4,7}.
Remember that D means domain, and R means range. D is possible X variables, and R is possible, or resulting Y variables. For example, if our equation is 5+x, and our domain (which can be any real number) is d={1,2}, then our range is the resulting y values for this domain, {(5+1),(5+2)}, or D= {6,7}.
An easy way to remember that domain is for the x values and range for the y values (other than their meanings) is that Domain is before Range in the alphabet, as X is before Y.
Anyways, hope this helped. Email or IM if you need more help!
