Boat is traveling from A to B at 33mph
Plane is also traveling from same A to B at 605mph.
Plane takes 104 hours LESS to make the trip.
How far apart are A and B.
It does not say if they left at the same time, but have to assume they did.
It does not say for how long either were traveling.

Hello,
I will assume that they start at the same time.
Remember that: Speed * Time = Distance
Call t the time that the plane needs to get from A to B.
Call x the distance between A and B.
Then we have that: 605*t = x
But we also know that 33*(t+104) = x
(because the boat takes 104 hours more in time)
This gives us 605*t = x = 33*(t+104)
605t = 33t + 3432
t= 6
x = 605*6 = 3630

It does say they both went from A to B, therefore they are traveling the same distance. If we find the times required to make the trips, it's an easy calculation to find the distance
:
Let t = boat's time to make the trip
:
Then (t-104) = plane's time to make the trip
:
Boat's speed is given as 33 mph;
:
Plane's speed = 605 mph
:
Dist = speed * time
:
Plane's dist = Boat's dist
605(t-104) = 33t
605t - 62920 = 33t
605t - 33t = +62920
572t = 62920
t = 62920/572
t = 110 hrs for the boat to make the trip

Remember that Dist = speed * time:

Dist = 33 * 110 = 3630 mi

We can check out solution by finding the dist the plane travels, it should be the same.
