Question 572516: I am building a Triangular chicken coop.
A=4ft(tall)
B=4ft(wide)
D=5.66ft(hypotnuse)
of A the lower 2.5ft is going to be open while the remaining 1.5 ft will be enclosed making the lower "half" a right trapizoid and the top a right triangle
so if the trapizoid is
a=2.5ft tall
B=4ft wide
c=? (also width of upper right triangle)
d=? (hypotnuse)
1.5ft of A c and the remaining difference of D = the enclosed area
i just need to know what c & d are of the trapaziod that is the simpilest way i can put the question im doing this on my own and i have been out of school for just a year but im just stuck and dont remember how to do it i would very much appreciate your help Thank you.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
if i understand your question correctly, you are looking for the dimensions of the trapezoid, the upper half of which will be the base of the triangle on top.
the best way to show you what i mean is by the diagram below.
it has the measurements you are looking for i believe.
$$$
ABC is your original triangle.
ADE is the top part of the coop.
DECB is the bottom part of the coop.
DE is parallel to BC so it forms triangle ADE similar to ABC because all the corresponding angles are equal.
if the triangles are similar, then their corresponding sides are proportional.
i drew EF parallel to DB to show you that all 3 triangles are similar.
those triangle are:
ADE, ABC, and EFC
your coop can be constructed with or without EF as a brace.
