Question 571744: Hi I'm doing systems of linear equations & problem solving in math 103. Solving applications of three equations.
Geometry. In triangles ABC, the measures of angle B is three times that of angle A. The measure of angle C is 20 degrees more than that of angle A. Find the angle measures
I have such a hard time with word problems and finding the right equations. I would apprexiate some help.
So far this is what I understand. I don't know if I'm correct. A+B+C=180
B=3A
C=A(.20) Answer by KMST(5328) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! I agree with A+B+C=180 and B=3A
However the translation for "The measure of angle C is 20 degrees more than that of angle A" is C=A+20
You get the system of equations
Substituting the expressions for B and C from the second and third equations into the first equation, you get --> --> --> -->
Now you can substitute the value found for A in the last two equations to find B and C --> -->
