so that Al will receive twice as much as Bill
a = 2b
:
and Bill will get three times as much as Carl.
b = 3c
Divide both sides by 3
c = b%2F3

Replace a & c in the 1st equation
2b + b + b%2F3 = 630
3b + b%2F3 = 630
multiply both sides by 3
9b + b = 3(630)
10b = 1890
b = 189 is Bills share
then
a = 2(189)
a = 378 is Al's share
and
c = 189/3
c = 63 is Carl's share
