what 2 numbers add up to -126 but multiply to get 9720
----------
x + y = -126 --> y = -126 - x
x*y = 9720
-------
x*(-126 - x) = 9720
-x%5E2+-+126x+-+9720+=+0
x%5E2+%2B+126x+%2B+9720+=+0
Solved by pluggable solver: SOLVE quadratic equation (work shown, graph etc)
Quadratic equation ax%5E2%2Bbx%2Bc=0 (in our case 1x%5E2%2B126x%2B9720+=+0) has the following solutons:

x%5B12%5D+=+%28b%2B-sqrt%28+b%5E2-4ac+%29%29%2F2%5Ca

For these solutions to exist, the discriminant b%5E2-4ac should not be a negative number.

First, we need to compute the discriminant b%5E2-4ac: b%5E2-4ac=%28126%29%5E2-4%2A1%2A9720=-23004.

The discriminant -23004 is less than zero. That means that there are no solutions among real numbers.

If you are a student of advanced school algebra and are aware about imaginary numbers, read on.

In the field of imaginary numbers, the square root of -23004 is + or - sqrt%28+23004%29+=+151.670695917174.

there arent any 2 numbers that work
highest possible to add to -126
-63+-63=-126 and -63*-63=3969
they have to be both negative numbers to make the positive number.
if you know imagenary numbers theres an answer, but you didnt clarify imagenary numbers
