Don't worry, these are relatively easy; we have to remember that what we do to one side we must do to the other. In the first equation, we want N by itself (because whatever's on the other side of the equal sign will be the answer for n) Notice that if we multiply both sides by 7, the equation simplifies to . The statement is still true; and it can be tried with any numbers a, b and x such a=b. a*x*b*x. For example, 2+3 is a, and 5 is b. a=b because 2+3=5. Now let's multiply by 5. 5(2+3)=5(5): simplify to 5(5)=5(5) or 25=25; if we keep doing what we do to one side to the other also, we'll be fine. simplifies to simplifies to , and n (56) is the answer.
Same with the second equation: so so . Hope this helped, email or im for questions.
You can put this solution on YOUR website! n divided by 7=8 )
and the other one is s/8=13
:
n/7 = 8
:
Get rid of the denominator by multiplying the equation by 7. 7/7 = 1 of course
7(n/7) = 7(8)
1(n) = 56
n = 56
:
Substitute 56 for n and you can see that 56/7 =8
:
s/8 = 13
Do the same with this; mult eq by 8:
1s = 8*13
s = 104
:
104/8 = 13
