You can put this solution on YOUR website! Find two consecutive even integers such that the sum of the larger and twice the smaller is 62.

x is smaller y is larger:
They are consecutive AND EVEN, so x+2=y
Large+2Small=62, or
Y+2X=62.  We know y=x+2, so let's substitute x+2 for y
(x+2)+2x=62  simplify
x+2+2x=62  minus 2 both sides
3x=60  divide by 3
x=20

The smaller number is 20, so the larger is [20+2] 22.
The numbers are 20 and 22
Let's check:
They are consecutive even integers
and 22+2(20)=62 so there we go!
