You can put this solution on YOUR website! A says to B, If you give me $12, we will have and equal amount of money." Monte respons,"that may be true but if you give me $6, I will have twice as much as you.How much money does A and B each have?
===================
Let A = the amount of money A has
Let B = the amount of money B has
If B gives A 12, then B now has B-12 dollars and A now has A+12, and these two amounts are equal:
A+12 = B-12
If A gives B 6, then B will have twice as much as A:
B+6 = 2(A-6)
So we have two equations and two unknowns. Solve using your favorite method.
Ans: A = 42, B = 66
Check: If B gives A 12, they will both have 54
If A gives B 6, then A will have 36 and B will have 72, twice as much
