y%5E2-8y-33+=+0 Factor the trinomial.
%28y%2B3%29%28y-11%29+=+0 Apply the zero product property.
y%2B3+=+0 or y-11+=+0
If y%2B3+=+0 Subtract 3 from both sides.
y+=+-3 This is one solution.
If y-11+=+0 Add 11 to both sides.
y+=+11 This the other solution.
