You can put this solution on YOUR website! 3.5^x=47.9

You have no choice but to take the log of both sides:
x(log(3.5)) = log(47.9)
----
x = log(47.9)/(log(3.5))
----
x = 3.0885
------
Unless you use a slide rule of log tables you cannot
get this answer without a calculator.
