Question 56696: You forgot your homework assignment in Dallas. A friend agreed to meet you part way and bring the assignment. You drove 210 miles at an average speed of 20 miles per hour more than your friend, and your friend drove 150 miles. How long did it take for you and your friend to meet?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Note that in both cases, you and your friend both travelled for equal amounts of time
Let your friend's speed = X
Your speed = X+20
Time taken to cover 210 = 210%2F%28X%2B20%29
Time taken to cover 150 = 150%2FX
Since time is equal
210%2F%28X%2B20%29 = 150%2FX
Simplifying you get X = 50
Therefore time = 150%2F50 = 3hours
