You can put this solution on YOUR website!
driving time = 1/2 hour
driving speed = x
Train time = 1/3 hours
train speed = (x+12)
Distance is same
D=rt
(1/2)x=(1/3)(x+12)
multiply the equation by 6
3x=2(x+12)
3x=2x+24
3x-2x=24
x=24, driving speed
driving speed * time = distance
24*1/2 = 12 miles
distance from Home to work place = 12 miles
