Problem #68
A board 28 feet long is cut into two pieces, and the lengths of the two pieces are in the ratio of 2 to 5. Find the lengths of the two pieces. This question is from textbook Elementary and Intermediate Algebra
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Since the board is cut into two parts:
Part #1 + Part #2 = 28 feet
x+x=28
The ratio is 2:5, so
2x+5x=28
7x=28
x=4
.
Part # 1=2(4)=8ft
Part # 2=5(4)=20ft
_____________________
Total length = 28 ft.
