Question 565159: I was asked to solve a system of equations, and I got the problem:
x=-4y
3x+2y=20
I substituted -4y for x and got -12y+2y=20 or 14y=20 and I don't know if I did the problem right so far, and if I did, how to finish solving.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
-12y+2y=20 should simplify to -10y = 20

From there, you divide both sides by -10 to get y = -2

Once you have this y value, you can plug it into x = -4y to get x = -4(-2) = 8

So the answers are x = 8 and y = -2
