Question 564645: Renee is twice as old as Dana. Four years ago, Renee was three times as old as Dana. How old are Renee and Dana now?
I tried Dana's age times 2= Renee's age now.
Then Dana times 3 - 4 = Renee's age four years ago.
I think I am missing something in my formula

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Renee is twice as old as Dana. Four years ago, Renee was three times as old as Dana. How old are Renee and Dana now?
----
Equations:
r = 2d
r-4 = 3(d-4)
---
Substitute for "r" and solve for "d":
2d-4 = 3d-12
d = 8 (Dana's age now)
---
Solve for "r":
r = 2d
r = 2*8 = 16 (Renee's age now)
