You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5(2y-1)=3(y-4)
10y-5=3y-12 add 5 to both sides
10y=3y-12+5
10y=3y-7 subtract 3y from both sides
7y=-7
y=-1 plug in for variable and you will see that it is correct!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
--First: distribute everything.
--Second: subtract 3y from each side. The 3y's on the left will cancel out.
--Third: add 5 to each side. The 5's on the left side will cancel out.
--Fourth: divide each side by 7.
.
5(2y-1) = 3(y-4)
10y - 5 = 3y - 12
7y - 5 = -12
7y = -7
y = -1
.
ALWAYS check your work:
5(2y-1) = 3(y-4)
5(2*-1-1) = 3(-1-4)
5(-2-1) = 3(-5)
5(-3) = -15
-15 = -15 check
.
.
Hope this helped!
