: hello,
were solving linear equations by graphing, and i am having a little troble with this problem, -8x+12y=48 2x-3y=6. when i solve for the variables i get (-6,4) and (3,-2) so the lines are parallel, but my teacher informed me that the lines are not supposed to parallel. i am very confused and any help would be greatly appriciated. thank you very much! You can put this solution on YOUR website! and
get both equations in y=mx+b (point-slope form) and
divide the first by 12 and divide the second by -3 and
Reduce the fractions and
Notice how the m value IS exactly the same. so assuming your wrote the problem correctly .. they ARE parallel.
