The difference in the distance they traveled is 60 miles, so if you subtract the two distances=60.

We have to go about this indirectly, by finding out how long they traveled, then find out how far Suzi drove. The distance formula is: highlight%28d=rt%29, where d=distance, r=rate, and t=time. They both drove the same amount of time:t.

The distance Suzi drove is: 60t
The distance Jim droze is: 48t
The difference between them is: 60

60t-48t=60
