Question 56024: Given the equation f(x)=25x decide whether each function in linear. If it is, give its slope and state whether it represents direct variation.
I wrote that it is a linear equation and the slope is 25/1. My questions are what exactly is direct variation and I'm I correct in saying that it is linear?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Yes, it is linear and the slope is 25.
y=25x indicates that x and y vary directly.
That means as x increases, y increases and
as x decreases, y decreases; they vary directly
or in the same direction.

You are correct in saying that it is a linear equation.
Direct variation are in the form of a constant times a variable.
In this case f(x) varies directly with x. In algebreze f(x)=kx, where k is the constant of variation. In this case k is the slope, 25. It means that for every x, f(x) increases by a factor of 25.
Happy Calculating!!!
