I do have a question on this. I'm thinking that your number is 2.040506070809.....2122232425....676869...979899 <--- What are the next digits after this "99"? How would the pattern continue?
It will be irrational only if there are infinitely many decimal places AND no repeating chunks of numbers. If your number ended with the "99", then it's a rational number because it ended there.
