I have been given a function table with missing steps. I have completed the table up to the input of 10:

I need to find a rule to determine the value of y when given the value of x. I have been working on this for several hours now, and the only thing that I can see is that the value of y goes up by 6 when x is an even number, and y goes up by 4 when x is odd. I feel like this solution is more simple than I'm making it, but I can't make sense of it right now. Could you help me come up with a rule for this function table, please? Thank you.

y=3.5%2B5x%2B0.5%28-1%29%5Ex would work for integer values of x
y=3.5%2B5x%2B0.5cos%28pi%2Ax%29 would work too
I suspect that the expected solution is simpler than I'm making it, too.
Otherwise, could it be that the missing steps were expected to be different from what you filled?
The person who wrote that problem probably think there could be only one solution.
