Hi Sher,
I don't have your book, but I can tell you what to do.
If the opposite sides have the same slopes they a parallel. Both rectangles and parallelograms have opposite sides of identical slopes.
If the line segments that make up the corners have slopes that have opposite signs and are upside down, then the corners are right angles and the figure is a rectangle.
