Question 558796: I am sure this is easy and I am overlooking how to do this correctly can you please help???
Nathan wants to buy a sweatshirt and is trying to decide on the better buy. He has a 20 percent off coupon for the instore purchase. The store charges 42.00 for the sweatshirt that he wants to buy. He found the same one online for 38.00 and gets free shipping and 15 percent off. Which is the better buy and by how much?? use the Polya problem solving method.
I know that the online purchase is the better buy but I cannot get the other part of it figured out. Thanks!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

It is nothing more than comparing 80% of the in-store price (100% minus the 20% discount) to 85% of the on-line price (100% minus the 15% discount)
