You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hi,
:
x = dogs.
y = parrots.
:
Equation 1
x + y = 11
:
Equation2:
4x + 2y = 38
Solve both! :)

Charlie has 11 animals at home, consisting of dogs and parrots. If there are 38 legs total, how many dogs does he have?
----
Animal count: d + p = 11
Leg count::: 4d + 2p = 38
-------
Multiply thru the Animal count equation by 4 to get:
4d + 4p = 44
4d + 2p = 38
------
Subtract and solve for "P":
2p = 6
p = 3 (# of parrots)
-----
Solve for "d":
d + p = 11
d + 3 = 11
d = 8 (# of dogs)
