Pick a value for . It can be anything you like, but small integers generally make for easier arithmetic. Substitute the value you chose for in the function, then do the arithmetic to determine the value of the function for that value you picked. Using the value you picked and the calculated value of the function, create an ordered pair, , and plot the point. Since this is an absolute value function you will have to repeat this several times.

Notice that substituting (minus a minus 3 is plus 3 then minus 3 is 0) will give you a function value of zero. This is the minimum value that an absolute value can be, so one of your choices should be -3. Then choose two values smaller than -3 and two values larger. Once you have plotted the points "connect the dots" to create the typical "V" shape an absolute value function takes.
