Original cost of seven DVDs = x
6% of x = 6%(x)=6/100(x) = 6x/100
original cost + 6% tax = 81.62
x+6x/100=81.62
Multiply by 100 both sides
100x+6x=81.62*100
106x=8162
x=8162/106
x=77
Seven DvD's original cost = $77
One DvD costs = 77/7 = $11
