You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Anna is 3 times as old as Rain can be written as
a=3r
Anna's and Rain's ages in 4 years are a+4 and r+4. If we use that we get:
a+4=2(r+4)
to say "Four years form now she will be twice as old as Rain"
distribute
a+4=2r+8
Sub in 3r for a
3r+4=2r+8
subtract 2r from both sides
r+4=8
r=4
a=12
