You can put this solution on YOUR website!
cargo plane leaves at 9:30 am.
passenger plane leaves at 12:00 noon.
passenger plan has to catch up with the cargo plane by 3:00 pm.
in order to do this the passenger plane has to travel the same distance as the cargo plane.
the cargo plane gets to do it in 5.5 hours because it starts 2.5 hours earlier.
the passenger plane needs to do it in 3 hours.
since rate * time = distance, then:
the cargo plane is traveling at 240 kph for 5.5 hours for a distance of 1320 kilometers.
the passenger plane is traveling at x kph for 3 hours for a distance of 1320 kilometers.
this makes x equal to 1320/3 = 440 kph
the cargo plane travels 5.5 hours at 240 kph for a distance of 1320 km.
the passenger plane travels 3 hours at 440 kph for a distance of 1320 km.
