Question 553300: Hello! I need help on this word problem that I don't really understand.
A car leaves Oakland and travels South at 60mph. At the same time another car leaves and travels North at 30mph. Write and solve a system of linear equations that can be used to determine when cars are 150 miles apart.
I don't know how to do this problem so if you can, may you please show me the steps so i can actually know how to do it myself too?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! the time t taken to be 150 miles apart is the same, since they start at the same time
south car 60 mph
north car = 30 mph
since they are moving away add up speeds
=90 mph
Distance = r*t
150= 90 t
