Let x = the unknown grade required to bring the average grade to at least 60
:
(x + 44 + 72)/3 => 60
:
Mult eq by 3 to get rid of the denominator, then you have:
x + 44 + 72 => 180
:
x + 116 => 180
:
x = > 180 - 116
:
x => 64
:
Check 64 + 44 + 72 = 180; divide by 3 = 60
