You can put this solution on YOUR website!
distance = 8 miles
the runners are in opposite directions
so add up speeds
6+4 = 10 mph
t=d/r
8/10 = 4/5 of an hour
4/5 *60 = 48 minutes
They will meet at 7:48 AM

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let +t+ = time in hrs it takes to meet
Let +d+ = distance faster runner goes in +t+ hrs
given:
Faster runner:
+d+=+6t+
Slower runner:
+8+-+d+=+4t+
-----------
By substitution:
+8+-+6t+=+4t+
+10t+=+8+
+t+=+.8+ hrs
+.8%2A60+=+48+
+7+%2B+.8+ hrs = 7:48 AM
-------------
check answer:
+d+=+6t+
+d+=+6%2A.8+
+d+=+4.8+ mi
and
+8+-+d+=+4t+
+8+-+d+=+4%2A.8+
+8+-+d+=+3.2+
+d+=+8+-+3.2+
+d+=+4.8+ mi
OK
