The simplest way to do this,
is to just set the two right hand sides of the equations equal to each other.
This is because they both equal y.
given
subtracted
from both sides
subtracted x from both sides
subtracted 11 from both sides
divided both sides by 9
And of course, we can then plug this value for x into either of the equations:
So our solution to this system of equations would be:
x=-2 and y=-5 or the point (-2,-5)
