Question 552081: An acid solution was made by mixing 2 ml of a 10% acid solution and 8 ml of a 40% acid solution. Find the concentration of the new mixture. Answer by Maths68(1474) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Solution A
Amount = 2 ml
Concentration =10% =0.1
Solution B
Amount = 8 ml
Concentration =40% = 0.4
Resultant Solution
Amount =2+8 = 10 ml
Concentration =x
[Amount Solution A * Concentration A] + [Amount Solution B * Concentration of B] = Amount of Resultant * Concentration of resultant
(2)(0.1)+(8)(0.4)=(10)(x)
0.2+3.2=10x
3.2=10x
3.2/10=10x/10
32=x
x=32
The concentration of the new mixture is 32% acid solution.
