Question 551667: Question: Is the equation x+1/y=6 a linear equation, and if yes, how can it be put into standard form?
Tentative answer: Yes, it is a linear equation?
Attempt to put into standard (Ax+By=C)form:
x+1/y=6
(y/1*x) + (y/1*1/y) = y/1*6
x*y + 1 = 6y
x*y - 6y = -1
y*(x-6) = -1
At this point my understanding breaks down and I do not know how to get this equation into Ax+By=C form. Can you please enlighten me? Thank you so much.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
you have worked it out correctly

y= -1/(x-6)
This is not a linear equation
