Another question is that for the following problem i know that you have to use the 6 8 10 triangle and use sin x which is 6/10 and solve for tan by that which comes out to 1/3 but is there another clearer way to do this problem?
if cos x= .8 what is a value of tan 1/2x Answer by lwsshak3(11628) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 2 sin theta + square root of 3=0 when 0greator and less than theta greator and less than to 360.
Solution:
2sinx+√3=0
sinx=-√3/2
x=240º and 300º
..

if cos x= .8 what is a value of tan 1/2x
..
cos x=.8
sin x=.6
For tan (1/2)x, use tan half-angle formula:
tan (x/2)=(sin x)/(1+cos x)=.6/(1+.8)=6/1.8=.3333..=1/3
