Distance = Rate * Time


The cyclist travels D = 33 * 3.5 = 115.5 km in 3.5 hours. That's the distance the motorist makes up in the 2.5 hours.


115.5 = R * 2.5
R = 115.5/2.5 = 46.2 km/h
