You can put this solution on YOUR website!
{Solution:}
Equation given:
4.2x + 3.8y = 1.9 where
A=4.2 B=3.8 C=1.9 [ Ax + By = C]

Slope or m:
m=-A/B
=(-4.2)/3.8
m=(-1.11)
X-intercept or the abscissa or a:
4.2x + 3.8y = 1.9
4.2x + 3.8(0) = 1.9 [to get the x-intercept let y=0]
4.2x = 1.9
4.2x/4.2 = 1.9/4.2 [to let x remained, just divide each side by 4.2]
x=0.45
So, the abscissa therefore is 0.45 or 9/20
Y-intercept or the ordinate or b:
4.2x + 3.8y = 1.9
4.2(0) + 3.8y = 1.9 [to get the y-intercept let x=0]
3.8y = 1.9
3.8y/3.8 = 1.9/3.8 [to let x remained, just divide each side by 3.8]
y=0.5
So, the ordinate therefore is 0.5 or 1/2
