Question 551154: Find the inverse of the following functions
a) f(x) = (x-6) divided by 4

b) f(x) = (2x-1 divided by x-3 ) x>3.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a) f(x) = (x-6) divided by 4
let the f(x)=y
y=(x-6)/4
4y=x-6
4y+6=x
Therefore the inverse function is 4x+6 (put x instead of y in 4y+6)
b) f(x) = (2x-1 divided by x-3 ) x>3.
let the f(x)=y
y=(2x-1)/(x-3)
y*(x-3)=2x-1
xy-3y=2x-1
xy-2x=3y-1
x(y-2)=3y-1
x=(3y-1)/(y-2)
Therefore the inverse function is (3x-1)/(x-2) (put x instead of y in(3y-1)/(y-2))
