You can put this solution on YOUR website!
as the owner of a banquet hall, you are in charge of catering a reception. There are two dinners: a chicken dish that cost $16 and a beef dish that costs $18. The 300 wedding guests have ordered their meals in advance, and the total cost to prepare the dinner is $5256. How many of each type of type of dinner are you preparing?
-----
Quantity Equation:: c + b = 300
Value Equation::::16c + 18b = 5256
---------------------------------------
Multiply thru the Quantity Equation by 16 to get:
16c + 16b = 16*300
16c + 18b = 5256
-------------------------
Subtract and solve for "b":
2b = 456
b = 228 (# of beef dishes ordered)
----
Solve for "c":
c + b = 300
c + 228 = 300
c = 72 (# of chicken dishes ordered)
