Question 549923: Please factor and solve. Thank you.
2x^3 + 3x^2 -5x -15 = 0
Answer by nyc_function(2741) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! HINT: Use the GROUPING METHOD to factor your polynomial of 4 terms.
If you don't know this method, write back. This is not linear algebra.
Here is your reply:
"Thank you for the hint. I had already used the grouping method and I got
x^2(2x+3)-5(x+3) = 0 and I did not know where to go from there. If that 2x wasn't there then I could have grouped (x+3)."
You did very well.
Here is the factored form:
(x^2 - 5)(2x + 3)(x + 3) = THREE FACTORS = 0.
Now set each factor to equal zero and solve for x individually.
Can you take it from here?
Merry Christmas!
