You can put this solution on YOUR website! A theatre sells 200 tickets one day. The tickets are sold for $33. and $18. The total dollar amount collected for the one day is $4,800.
How do a write the equation for this problem and steps to solve?
x= $33. tickets
y= $18. tickets
x + y = 200 tickets
33x + 18y = 4,800.
----------------------
Multiply thru the 1st equation by 33:
33x + 33y = 33*200
33x + 18y = 4800
-------
Subtract and solve for "y":
15y = 1800
y = 120 (# of $18 tickets sold)
----
Solve for "x":
x + y = 200
x + 120 = 200
x = 80 (# of $33 tickets sold)
