A picture has a height that is 4/3 its width. It is to be enlarged to have an area of 192 square inches. What will be the dimensions of the enlargement?.
:
Let x = the value of the multiplier
then the dimensions of the picture will be: 4x by 3x
:
the area
4x * 3x = 192
12x^2 = 192
x^2 = 192%2F12
x^2 = 16
x = 4 is the multiplier
:
4*4 = 16 is the length
4*3 = 12 is the width

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let the width of picture be=x cm
therefore,length becomes =4/3 of its width(according to given condition)=(4/3)*x cm
since,area of rectangle=length*width
area of this picture(assuming it is rectangular in shape) becomes=(4/3)*x*x
now,the picture is enlarged to 192
so,enlarged area must be equal to=(4/3)x*x=192
x*x=192*(3/4)
x*x=144
taking square root,
x=12
now width=x=12
length=(4/3)*12=16
