I know the answer is 4 hours but I do not know HOW. What is the formula
Their rate of separation is the sum of their speeds:

50mph + 60mph = 110mph

time = distance%2Frate

time = 440%2F110

time = 4 hours.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
you can think of this as one car standing still and the other
driving away at the sum of their speeds
Let t = time when they are +440+ mi apart
+440+=+%28+50+%2B+60+%29%2At+
+t+=+440+%2F+110+
+t+=+4+
They will be 440 mi apart in 4 hrs
