Question 54822: PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM:
The table shows several value of the function f(x)=-x^3+x^2-x+2. Complete the missing values in this table, and then use these values and the intermediate value theorem to determine (an) interval(s) where the function must have a zero.
HERES THE TABLE:
x -2 -1 0 1 2
f(x) 16 _ _ _ -4 Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The table shows several value of the function f(x)=-x^3+x^2-x+2. Complete the missing values in this table, and then use these values and the intermediate value theorem to determine (an) interval(s) where the function must have a zero.
HERES THE TABLE:
x -2 -1 0 1 2
f(x) 16 _ _ _ -4
f(-1)=5
f(0)=2
f(1)=1
Since f(1)is positive
and f(2)is negative
the graph must pass through the x-axis.
There must be a zero between x=1 and x=2
