I think what you mean is solve
10%2A0.35%5Ex=4
So we need to isolate the x. Notice how we cannot just multiply 10 and 0.35 as this is breaking the rules of BEDMAS. Instead I will divide both sides by 10 to attain:
0.35%5Ex=4%2F10
Now a general rule to remember is if you have a variable in the exponent that you are trying to solve for, take logs of both sides :
log%280.35%5Ex%29=log%284%2F10%29
The reason we do this is we have a rule that says
log%28a%5Ex%29=xlog%28a%29
Using this rule we can bring the exponent x down to leave
xlog%280.35%29=log%284%2F10%29
And now dividing both sides by log(0.35) we get:
x=log%284%2F10%29%2Flog%280.35%29
I will let you do this calculator work (remembering to use proper brackets).
Hopefully this helps:)
