You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2 x + 4 y = 8 .............1
1 y = 12 + 2 x ---------2
/ 1 =
y = 12 + 2 x
Substitute y in (1)
2 x + 4 ( 12 + 2 x ) = 8
2 x + 48 + 8 x = 8
2 x + 8 x = 8 -48
10 x = -40
/ 10
x= -4
Plug the value of x in (1)
2 x + 4 y = 8
2 * -4 + 4 y = 8
-8 + 4 y = 8
4 y = 16
/ 4
y= 4

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(1) +2x+%2B+4y+=+8+
(2) +-2x+%2B+y+=+12+
---------------
Divide both sides of (1) by 2
(1) +x+%2B+2y+=+4+
(1) +x+=+-2y+%2B+4+
----------------
Substitute (1) into (2)
(2) +-2%2A%28-2y+%2B+4%29+%2B+y+=+12+
(2) +4y+-+8+%2B+y+=+12+
(2) +5y+=+20+
(2) +y+=+4+
--------------
And, since
(2) +-2x+%2B+4+=+12+
(2) +-2x+=+12+-+4+
(2) +-2x+=+8+
(2) +x+=+-4+
--------------
The solution is ( -4, 4 )
check answer:
(2) +-2x+%2B+y+=+12+
(2) +-2%2A%28-4%29+%2B+4+=+12+
(2) +8+%2B+4+=+12+
(20 +12+=+12+
OK
and
(1) +x+%2B+2y+=+4+
(1) +-4+%2B+2%2A4+=+4+
(1) +-4+%2B+8+=+4+
(1) +4+=+4+
OK
